THE
KAMEHAMEHA OHANA FILM FESTIVAL DECEMBER 2003
The First Kamehameha Ohana Film Festival opened to a crowd of
200 on December 8th at the Kamehameha Auditorium. Featuring
the cinematography of Vince Keala Lucero '93 on Kissing God
and Symphony for One, the unique festival showcased works made
by Alumni and Students. Kissing God by Ron Patricio also stars
Kamehameha student Daniel Kalahele. Other films included Robert
Pennybacker's Red Hibiscus, Celebration by Kodie Costa '03 and
Todd Locey '03, Kava Kultcha by Leah Kihara '92, Leanne Ferrer
'85, and Nalani Blane '94. The festival concluded with Patricia
Gillespie (KS TV teacher) and Sam Polson's They Call Her Lady
Fingers. The documentary tells the Betty Loo Taylor story and
won the Blockbuster Audience Award at HIFF '03. Don Brown, Stephanie
Castillo and Natalie Cross were also in the house capturing
footage for Reel Stories, soon to premiere on OC16. Moon Yun
Choi was also there from Aint It Cool News.
